Well, this week has been pretty good, considering I got old and stuff... On Monday night I went with my Lizzy to Spectrum to see a special invite only show performed by Josh Pyke. I've seen him play live a few times now and he really is one of the most captivating singer-songwriter types out at the moment. Standout tracks were Private Education and Goldmines as well as my favourites Silver Seahorse and Kids don't sell their hopes so fast back from the days when he was playing as Night Hour. ( feeding the wolves... )Then on Tuesday it was back to uni for another year. This semester i'm doing MUS307 Advanced Vocal Studies (Recording & Performance), PHIL242 Practical Ethics and PHIL256 Knowledge & Reality. So I turn up for my first vocal class at the ungodly hour of 10am and what do you know, our teacher doesn't even show for the first lesson! So anyway, I have a look through the course outline that we get given and it has all this stuff about how we will be producing a professional quality, 3 song vocal demo and how we have to organise non-copyrighted backing tracks asap and that we need to arrange studio time with the scary music-lab dude who I totally have a phobia of and of course I'm completely freaking out and thinking i'm gonna fail and die and all those stupid things. Thank god I had a good talk to Liz and she told me her sister knew how to get backing tracks and could help me and assured me that the scary music-lab dude who I totally have a phobia of is thoroughly nice if you're nice to him. So I'm feeling much more optimistic about the whole thing now and I'm sure if I put the work in i'll be fine. Anyway, so as to not leave the day as a total right-off after going to uni for no reason, I decided to go up to the mac center to get my hair cut and coloured. I had the bottom layer dyed a light blonde, so it's all contrasty and stuff. ( see )Then yesterday was my 22nd birthday. My wonderful flatmate made me breakfast in bed, which was a total suprise because usually she's out the door for work by 6:30. Scrambled eggs on toast with fried tomatoes and mushrooms and a hot cross bun... total yum!!! I had class again during the day and then Luke and I came back to my place and watched a couple of episodes of the most awesome t.v show in the whole world The Mighty Boosh, which he downloaded for me!!! In the evening we met my mum, dad and sister and had Thai for dinner. It was a great day, one of the best birthdays I can remember, because it was so nice and relaxed and spent with all the people I love the most.
Nice weekend. Wenty Leagues on Friday night for the first time in forever. It's still a total hole despite them having done it up recently, but I love it. Saturday I worked and then went up to the coast for a party at one of Luke's friends, which was great and then came back down on Sunday for the cricket at Drummoyne Oval, NSW vs WA. Totally boiling hot and the most disappointing score ever. When it got to the last ball and the Blues needed 4 to win Lianne and I started calling out "Bevo!", "Bevo!", but alas, the Tasmanian defector was nowhere to be found and we lost the game by one run.
So much to update on! Saturday I went to Rosehill Races with my girls and my Luke. Jarbs had organised the day on the premise that it would be her last chance to go out in ages on account of her juggling full-time work with study. So we are there at the races for a good hour or so, when who should turn up but our very own Lianne, a whole 15 days before she was due to return from New Zealand after 7 months!!! She and Jarbs had engineered the whole thing and the rest of us hadn't suspected a thing! Needless to say, much squealing ensued. While I wasn't really in a drinking mood (wtf?), the other girls certainly were and the day ended with me cleaning my darling flatmates blood off the carpet after she repeatedly aquainted it with the knee that she doesn't remember grazing. Aaahhh, don't you love it! ( Read more... )Then on Sunday my pony pal chuckie_moo came over and then we met up with Lee and Lianne for lunch at Albies, which was nice. Then Leah, Chuck and I took Luke on a tour of the grounds of our old school, which was quite weird. Hardly anything has changed at all, except for the llama. Can you believe they got a llama? I so would have done Ag if they had a llama when I was there!!! Monday was pretty lazy and non-eventful and nice. Luke and I went to look at the shops in Parramatta and I finally got my 3rd volume of Bluewater High (woohoo!) and then we went to the sushi train. Tuesday was Valentines Day, and after we had exchanged our gifts we went into uni so Luke could go to the careers center and we also got all the boring organisational stuff like transport stickers out of the way so we won't have to worry about it for o-week. Then we went into the city and got Pancakes on the Rocks (macadamia... total yum!) and went to the MCA which was completely lovely and totally my best Valentines Day ever! Then last night Rhys and I went suprise-visiting to Betty and Cara's new place. We watched "A Very Long Engagement", but I fell asleep. I think I have ADD since I got my Playstation.
Mmmmm.... pretty. This is the phone that i'm gonna get if my beloved little 8310 decides to die in the near future, which is sadly a distinct possibility. That would involve money though. Which I don't have. ♥
Yesterday, after a really crap day at work, my flatmate Leah and I went to dinner at an Indian resteraunt at Eastwood, which was nice. I haven't had Indian for ages, so I was totally craving. Then we went to Woolies and did our grocery shopping and I discovered that my darling flatmate has some rather bizzare dental habits. 1st of all, she bought "my first toothpaste", a mild childrens formulation and then, get this, she buys some teething biscuts!!! After we got home we unpacked our shopping and named our eggs. We have Wendy, Hughbert, Taurine and Fanny. It will be interesting to see if they actually get eaten now. ( Meet our eggs )
Mon, Jan. 30th, 2006, 05:31 pm So... stuff.
Well, It's always kind of tricky trying to think of what to write in the first entry of a new journal, so I guess I'll just start with the most interesting thing from the recent past I can think of, which was going up last weekend to visit Luke. When I got there we went for a drive to The Entrance, cos I had never been there before. We had chips by the beach for lunch and then we saw the pelicans being fed, which is the big attraction around those parts. After that we went for a walk on the beach and then stopped at a quite spectacular lookout on the way back home. So yeah, that was nice. ( Photos )Rest of the week was fairly non-eventful, apart from Luke coming to visit me after my extremely boring Australia Day spent working... and not even for penalty rates, I might add. We listened to the end of the Hottest 100 and then went with Lee and Leah to the Spur Steak Ranch for dinner. I was a little concerned when we saw a large sign out the front that said "We make meat-lovers out of vegetarians!", but I managed to get a very delicious veggie burger when we got in and was totally not tempted by any of their tempting meat products, so I guess they lose. Ha. Then yesterday was my cousin Michael's 16th birthday party, which was good fun. He got a bass, so I had a bit of a play with that and of course I now want one. We tried to draw a ligre on his birthday cake with blue icing, but it didn't really turn out. We also watched The Family Guy and played Lego Star Wars on XBOX. Fun Fun. ( Rockin' Mike )So there you go... first team_scout entry, done and dusted. ♥
G'day Sportsfans! Well, in honour of my brand new compy 386 I have decided to replace ol' happy_secret with a brand new journal. So welcome all to team_scout. Hope you enjoy! ♥ Victoria
